Day 9: 8/4: Stockholm

      Well, we took the luxury of sleeping in today and ended up paying for it a bit in that we hadn't budgeted enough time to get out to a park Kim had suggested to run in and still get to the laundry place in time, which was only open until 2. We also were trying to get a Metro pass at a 7-11, which took much longer than expected and we ended up scrapping our morning trip out to the park for a run again around the neighborhood. I was nervous that perhaps the subway pass was a poor decision after the debacle. It was a little less than 40$ a person and I wondered if we'd actually use it that much (9x was about the amount to break even)

     We ended up catching the bus though to one of the only self-service laundry places on the island, which was still pretty expensive: $10 a load, but at least that accounted for drying as well. We grabbed some Cardamom rolls and coffee while we waited for the washer and then caught some more lunch supplies and wrote a thank you note to Ingegerd and Lars during the drier.

    Got back to the room around 1:30ish and ate a light lunch/rested a bit before heading to the beach that Kim had also suggested. It was closeish, but far enough that we decided to take the metro, making some more use out of our card. The beach was packed and the water was chilly, but refreshing.

     We took the metro again out to a brewery that was a collaboration between some Swedish brewers and Brooklyn brewery (NYA Carnegiebryggeriert). It had a great view overlooking the water and good beer too.

     Dinner was a so-so pizza place in between the metro and the brewery. A good salad, but the pizza left something to be desired.

 

The not so good news front was that Dash isn't doing so well at home now on the 3rd leg of someone staying with him. He evidently bit the girlfriend of Tierney, which he's never done before. We don't have much context, but Kate is quite stressed about it. Hard to know what to do when you 4,000 miles away from the problem. It's definitely put a damper on the trip. Hoping that all can be smoothed over and he and Tierney can salvage a decent end to his time together.
