Day 4: 7/30: Hojby —> Mols Bjerge

Well, we had quite the pleasant surprise for breakfast this morning, when I realized that our room came with a huge breakfast buffet. We had tentatively planned the night before to simply go to the grocery store and pick up a couple items before heading to the ferry, but then read online that it came complementary. The catch was that the ferry left at 10:10 (also luckily found out last night and bought tickets just in time) and we had a 14ish mile bike to get there. Breakfast didn’t start until 8. Based on our pace from day one, I figured we could leave as late as 8:30 and still be alright, so if we could get into breakfast even a little early, we’d probably be alright.

We did indeed pick up our plates at ~7:45ish and were treated to one of the best meals of the trip. Pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit, cheeses. Too many things to even sample all of and it was all delicious. I put myself right on the edge of pain and we set off for the ferry, beating the 8:30 mark by a solid 5-10 minutes. The first few miles was an awesome jaunt through the countryside. Rolling hills through farm fields on backroads.

As we neared the tip of the peninsula though, the route turned to gravel as there was really only one major road to the ferry and biking wasn’t allowed. We followed a formal bike route, but the signage was on and off and it was hard to deceifer
